Replacing floors in Tokyo: Hinoki (cypress), oak, or ?

Hi, not sure where else to post this but…

I’m planning to replace the floors before I move into a house in Tokyo. I don’t know much about wood, but I think of hinoki (Japanese cypress) as smelling good but being relatively soft. In America oak floors are fairly common and durable, but not sure how common they are here (this seems like one of the most expensive options).

Does anyone have experience with wood floor types here in Japan? I’d like to go with something local and sustainable but also durable.

Thanks in advance!
