Reviewer may not know that the burgers are a beef/pork mix so they have to be prepared and cooked differently than most westerners expect.
Imho Freshness is one of the best burger chains in town (although a bit expensive, but quality comes at a price). Anyone expecting a rare juicy beef will indeed be disappointed. But the teriyaki chicken burger is very nice…
And they have a big collection of condiments and sauces to try on the fries.
I seem to remember the burgers being decent. Sure, it might be the Boone’s Farm to the author’s Dom Perignon, but it’s still going to get me drunk either way.
Well their veggie burgers are great, so there! 😛
I love a good ‘dog in the States, but Japan *does* have some quality sausages. They usually don’t get the bun right, though, unfortunately. And the chili is always just weird, just as the guy said.
> I haven’t yet experienced a great burger in Japan
You won’t find a great burger in a chain store :
Plenty of amazing burger places in Kanto, probably more than a few in Kansai as well. I’m besotted with [this place](http://feelburger.com/top.html) near my house, and until recently [these guys](http://munchs.jp/) only sold out of a mini-van but make amazing burgers.
