Apartment renewal is coming up and I no longer have my joint guarantor.

Lengthy version:
Basically I started a job at a company, needed an apartment that wasn’t leopalace (never going back there), and found a place.

It wanted me to not only do a guarantor company but also a joint guarantor (because I’m a foreigner – their Japanese tenants don’t need to do the same). I asked my company and one of the bosses agreed as a personal favor. They eventually left the company and said it was ok to use them on the original contract, but that’s it.

Now it’s renewal time. It doesn’t require their signature to renew, but they’re still on the contract. My company wants to get them off the contract as they no longer work for the company.

Question(s): if the joint guarantor gets taken off of the contract, how does that affect my renting? I’m still paying a guarantor company. Could the apartment demand a replacement? Do I have any rights?

I have one close Japanese friend but even they seem reluctant to help. I get it, it’s a big ask. But I’m not going anywhere, I’ve never been late on payments, I don’t cause trouble, etc. I just want to keep my apartment and not go through the stress of moving again in Japan and dealing with the loads of rejections from places just for being a foreigner.
