Looking for some advice – we’ll be moving from Ine, Kyoto, to Kawaguchi and have two days inbetween for an Onsen town near the end of March. We currently have Hakone accom booked with a private bath in our room. We have just looked back on reviews and they have dropped dramatically in the last two months – bad service, very run down old building, bad food. So are considering Kinosaki for a similar price, but we won’t have a private Onsen in our room, but will have the option of 7 onsens around town.
Has anyone been to both and would recommend one over the other? We are keen to do the rope way in Hakone, but won’t be upset if we end up exploring a different small town instead. Key thing will be feeling relaxed with food, nice service and a slower pace 3 weeks into our trip.
