Hello everyone! I really want to move back to Japan and I wanted advice/ ideas. I lived in Japan until I was 13 and I had to move to the US because my parents were in the military. I hold Japanese citizenship and I am a permanent resident in the US.
I went to college here and have bachelors in accounting and I currently work at a city hall as a supervisor accountant. I am really not happy here and I find myself dreaming of going back to Japan and living there
What holds me back is that I don’t know business level Japanese so I don’t feel confident that I can find a normal Japanese job there. Another thing is that if I leave the US for over a year I will lose my permanent residency status in the US.
I found out that if you work for the military/ government overseas you don’t lose your residency in the US, so I am thinking of applying to an accounting job at Yokota air base (I lived 10 minutes from there when I was younger)
But— I am not sure if I can get a job there and I am pretty sure they want me to have a place to live before applying there.
Do you guys have any ideas as to what I can do to make a living there if the jobs at the base doesn’t work out?
