When I interviewed for my job here (2 year contract), I was told very clearly that the first year living in Japan I don’t pay residence tax.
I found out after moving here that that was a lie and I’ll need to pay it back when I leave.
I’ve asked my (useless) company admin how much I’ll need to pay back, and they say they don’t know (even though they’re my sole employer and have my contract end date). They said I’ll find out when I get my final paycheck.
Is there any way for me to input my salary and work out how much tax I’ll owe when I leave the country?
