What is this clump of rice that comes with sushi called and how are you supposed to eat it?

1. It’s rice. And you’re supposed to put it in your mouth and chew it a little and then swallow it.

2. Extra random rice, just consume however you see fit.

3. It’s the literal sushi. The 寿司 sushi is made up of su 酢　or vinegar and shi し shortened from meshi飯　めし or rice. Sushi is literally vinegared rice.

4. Looks really dry and old. They prepared it and put it into the freezer and that’s what you get. Also too much rice for a nigiri portion.

5. Extra rice. Raw.
