I’ve sold a bunch of smaller collectibles on Mercari and if I only sell 1 item at a time, the best shipping option is to use my own packaging materials and pay for 定形外郵便物. I’ve been adding 追跡 (160yen) and then giving the tracking number to the buyer to cover myself in case they try to claim the item wasn’t delivered. Am I wasting my money? The items are only worth about 1500yen. Are there are lot of scammers in Japan who might take advantage of packages that aren’t tracked? I am having to lower the prices on what I have left and adding the 追跡 is going to start giving me negative returns.
