Heya, 5th Trip to Japan. N3 Speaker. Greek National/Canadian Citizen. First time i’m ever kinda just winging my trip and going in blind. Professional photographer and plumber by trade. I love travelling for photography. Will use Ubigi for my esim.
Day 1-3: Tokyo. Staying in Ueno. General things I will do
Ramen at my favourite joint (kamo to negi)
Used camera shopping at every camera store I see (i found kitamura had the best prices, but i might hold off until i check out other locations in rural areas as the prices are way better where there is less tourists)
Check out yokohama. Maybe go see the gundam there, link up with a Japanese girl i met on my last trip in May, check out cup noodle factory, walk around in chinatown, maybe check out some greek resteraunts (I heard yokohama has a small greek community
Check out Maxell Aqua Park, I haven’t been to an aquarium since i was a kid
Bought a ticket for teamlabs borderless (the new one that just opened up) but it’ll be on the last day of my trip 3 weeks later. I got a ticket for 11:30, flight leaves at 6:40 so I should have enough time.
Clothing shopping at all my hypebeast stores (Neighborhood, Fucking Rabbits, Supreme, Radio Eva)
Day 3-8: Kuala Lumpur
Not related to Japan Travel but this is how I get 500 CAD flights to Japan everytime I go by doing the layover trick. Last year I paid 500 CAD to go Japan on a similiar trip except my “end” destination was Singapore. I actually have no idea what im doing in KL other than eating cheap delicious food and meeting up with a few girls I know from when I use to play VRChat/Vtuber community.
Day 8-10: Fukuoaka
Will land back in tokyo in the morning and get my 14 day JR pass and
Eat at Yatai’s
Check out Toto’s Plumbing museum in Kitakyushu
Some Japanese girl I met in new york told me to go to her favourite seafood restaurants, and gave me a list
Maybe check out Uminoakamichi Seaside park? It’s January so it might be kinda dull and grey
TBH I have no idea what to do in Fukuoaka. Some ideas would be great
Day 10 – 12: Nagasaki
Check out the viewpoint I think it’s Mt. Inasayama Observatory
Wartime Museum/Peace Park
General walk around, also check out their chinatown.
Again please give suggestions
Day 13: Kumamoto
Day Hike Mount Aso. I’ve already seen a few videos on doing it in the winter. I think it might be doable in a Day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOdAqJGkiwE&t=326s
saw this video, which gave me some ideas. If Mt. Aso doesn’t pan out I should find things to do in Kumamoto. I figure get to Kumamoto, take a train to JR Aso Station, Bus to Mt. Aso Crater walk 30 minutes. Or maybe do a hike nearby (if anyone has suggestions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Az1kUUi38mo
honestly aso is beautiful.
Day 14-16: Osaka/Kobe
Visiting friends doing Jet Program and have 2 photoshoots booked with models, the only thing I have on my todo list is eating that sumo tonkatsu I saw on Social Media. It’s a year later after the hype train so I hope I don’t get a big lineup. Also checking out a hamburger shop in Kobe I saw on my last trip but was too full to eat on.
Day 16-18: Return Back to Kagoshima
Go try the famous tonkatsu place
Maybe head over to sakurajima
100% photograph From Mount Shiroyama/Kagoshima’s viewpoint.
Maybe go to Kagoshima City Aquarium
Day 18-21: Train back to fukuoaka For flight to Sapporo for the Winter Festival
Maybe go back to Hakodate for a half day
Daytrip to Otaru since I didn’t check it out in May
ANYTHING HATSUNE MIKU RELATED I MUST DO, including trying to get to the Digital Stars event (but I do not have a lawson account or Japanese phone number)
Beer Museum?
Maybe take a half day trip to Kushiro to photograph the Cranes in the snow
Maybe Asahikawa Zoo to see penguins?
Do the Wakkanai meme
Tons of winter festival activities
Eat Ramen, Soup Curry and other dishes honestly best food in Japan.
Go to a themed girls bar. I’m ready to drop 300 dollars on some entertainment, but some people have told me that the girls will rob me dry.
Maybe hit up Chitose/Lake Shikotsu.
Day 22: Return Back to Tokyo on the Bullet Train/and fly home.
Any ideas would be fantastic.
