Takayama>Nagoya train re-arrange?
Hello! I’m making a trip from Shibu Onsen in Nagano to Nagoya.
NOTE: I’m using the Hokuriku Arch Pass because my initial-final destination is Tokyo.
After Tokyo-Nagano: From day 3 at the pass, I will be at Shibu Onsen-Nagano,
I initially made a 3-day route that looks like this:
Monday: Nagano âž™ Toyama-> Takayama (Arch Pass day 3/7)
09:00 – Leave Shibu/Yudaka Station (Dentetsu line- not covered by the pass), change to Nagano towards Toyama (covered by the pass)
10:00 – Arrive in Toyama and set to a daytrip in Takayama
12:00 – Head to Takayama with Wide View Hida (Limited Train – not covered by the pass) aprox.1/2h
14-17:00 – Spend day at Takayama
18:00 – Head back to Toyama
22:00 – Sleep in Toyama
Tuesday 26th March – Toyama âž™ Tsuruga->Maibara->Nagoia (Arch Pass 4/7)
10:00 – Trip to see the Takaoka Buddha in Toyama
16:00 – Get the shinkansen to Tsuruga\* and change to Maibara ((included in the pass)) and then Maibara to Nagoya (not included in the pass/ 40min)
\*By late march/april the arch line shinkansen will reach Tsuruga
\–Alternative–
Monday: Sleep in Takayama/Skip Toyama and get the train to Nagoya directly (Meitetsu Limited Express- not covered with the pass 3h20)
I’ve read the train ride from Takayama-Nagoya is quite pretty on the Wide Views, and I assume the Wide View to Toyama is equalluynice?
My main concern is if I have to shuffle things around and skip Toyama, so I wanted to check here and see if you guys think the 2nd option looks much better, in terms of time and extra-costs.
Thanks!
