I bought a old poorly insulated mansion (2 bedroom). I live in the city. We have tiny verandas. I can’t mount solar, and the power company limits the total power my unit can receive. I have gone through insane lengths to insulate all of my windows, walls, and air gaps and I’m still wearing two jackets indoors. My wife hates the smell of the gas heater so we’re all electric 24/7 fml
Here’s my problem: if I dare run the washing machine, turn on the heater, and microwave something -poof- I have to reset the breaker and restart the laundry. Of course I should turn one of these off but sometimes I forget one is on and there we go again. It’s driving me insane.
I have a number of UPSs around the house to keep the internet stable and my pc on, and have been hoping to buy a large battery that I can charge at night when the laundry isn’t running, and use that in the daytime for heating
Is anyone doing something like this, any tips? I saw tips in the battery subs for Bluetti and Anker but they’re quite an investment, but they can draw 2000W. Has anyone bought one of these as a switchover, or recharging from the grid at night?
I need something powerful that runs quiet and doesn’t take up too much room (and won’t explode)
Any tips?
**Update:** We called the electric company and we have an old line coming into the building, and it would cost 1M yen to update everyone to 60A. When then called the building’s housing association, who explained that every apartment “must be fair and only have 30A” so we will appeal at least a 40 or 50 or 60 increase if nobody cares.
It’s mostly retired people here that don’t want to increase their living costs and don’t need it, but I work from home and have kids. Will update in 3 months with the dramatic conclusion
