Using remaining annual leave when quitting job and leaving Japan

I accepted a job offer abroad and will start on March 1st. There is not really a lot of time left so I’d like to use my remaining annual leave (32 days) for preparation instead of working at my current company. Notice period is one month. I read all the articles about how to quit properly in Japan, but this is not what I intend to do.

I want to quit and directly start using up my annual leave. Not sure how my manager will react, but he will likely not approve my leave and ask me to do all kinds of handover tasks. I’d like to avoid that as much as possible (a few days I can spare for them I guess).

Into what kind of trouble could I get with my current company if I just go ahead and take the unapproved leave (just don’t show up)? I read that labor laws don’t allow companies to deny leave in the case of resignation. Did somebody test this? Does it apply in this specific case?

I don’t mind burning bridges with this specific company and managers, but I might return to Japan one day (got PR).
