Direct Hiragana Input in a QWERTY shaped keyboard?

Hi all,

TL;DR: Do any of you know of a keyboard layout for Android (Samsung) that has the layout and shape on screen of a typical QWERTY English keyboard, but that can toggle between direct hiragana or romaji input?

The long story: On a Samsung Galaxy S9, my wife (Japanese) was using a keyboard input that could toggle between a standard Google/Samsung English keyboard, and a keyboard with the same style/layout as the English one. But with direct hiragana input.

This keyboard input had a feature where it would highlight words as you typed so you could pick some alternate kanji or katakana, etc. But a very annoying aspect of this was that you could not simply touch somewhere else to edit a different thing or move the cursor, until you did something to dismiss that option.

I attempted to fix this annoyance by digging throuigh settings and checking out other keyboards. But now I can’t find the setting to put it back how it was. All of my options for direct hiragana input are different, using a 12-key Godan input that she doesn’t like. Can anyone help me get that QWERTY shaped Hiragana back?

Thanks.
