  1. I love musubi. Place near me does sushi rice, seaweed wrapper, fried spam, and deepfried shrimp with a yumyum sauce. I dont think its sushi but its damn good.

  2. TECHNICALLY musubi is considered [closer to onigiri](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onigiri) than sushi. However, much like how a tomato is technically a fruit but in culinary circles it’s a vegetable, it depends on what you’re doing with it. Personally, the larger ones like spam musubi and this one I wouldn’t classify as traditional sushi, despite your using sushi rice – becuase in a similar vein, if poké uses sushi rice it’s still not quite sushi, even chirashi, because it’s its own dish.

Ultimately it comes down to semantics and preference. If you want to call it musubi sushi, you’re allowed to – the sushi police won’t knock down your door. With the way food varieties are expanding and changing as the world becomes one giant melting pot the lines between dishes and cultures become very blurred and a “right answer” is harder to find.

  3. yep. The only requirement for sushi is rice. If tomago on rice is sushi then this is sushi too.

  4. Musubis are great, but aren’t sushi.

They’re big in Hawaii. You can get them at the corner store, but they have fancy ones at cafes.

  5. i mean i might try a bite. but its not my kind of sushi. prefer only like 3 flavors max.

that being said, hell of a lot better than some of the train wreaks i see her leaking mayo sauces everywhere.

and yes, i am a sushi snob, so i’ve got that going for me.
