I will be renewing my visa in about a month and am curious about people’s experiences here specifically with recently issued government documents.I’m here in Japan on a Japanese Descendent visa good for one 1 year. This will be my first time renewing it.When applying for the visa originally about a year ago, the immigration law firm I worked with told me that all documents issued by the US government (I’m American) should be recently issued (within 3 to 6 months). If I do indeed need a recently issued birth certificate, this is painful. I was born outside of the US and it took me nearly 3 months to get a newly issued birth certificate while in the US.I would love to hear about people’s experiences renewing visas, especially with government documents that were more than 1 year old. Thank you!
