I’m still giving it a day to look around but if I cant find it I plan to go to the kouban tomorrow morning, file a report, then go to my local yucho ginkgo place to ask to issue a new one.
Is that all that would be required, or am I being naive? Would it be issued then and there?

Look, I have no clue if it is or not. But this is Japan my dude, nothing that involves paperwork is painless or fast.

Had to get a new one on Thursday. They can issue a new one right away. It costs 1100 yen, cash only. Remember to bring Juminhyo, ID and hanko.
Took about 5 minutes for me last year
