  1. Hi there! It’s Emma from Nikkei Asia again.

I thought your sub might find our recent article interesting. Posting some of the text here:

*Japanese information technology company NTT Data will develop a system that uses artificial intelligence to detect the cognitive ability of elderly drivers, Nikkei has learned, in an attempt to reduce the risk of accidents involving them in the rapidly aging country.*

*The AI system will analyze driving speed, acceleration and deceleration, and other driving data to inform drivers of a decline in cognitive functions of the brain, such as the ability to make snap judgments and pay attention.*

*In January, NTT Data will begin an experiment with Tokyo-based cab company Kokusai Motorcars to develop AI. The company will collect a large amount of driving data from dozens of cabs whose drivers are 65 years old or older, develop AI algorithms and verify the accuracy of driver judgments. The experiment is scheduled to run until the end of June.*

  2. Now that will be a needed piece of tech, tired of hearing stories about 90 year Olds driving into the on coming lane, or mistaking brake and accelerator etc.
