Just finished Try! N3 textbook and don’t know if I should buy another or do something else.

I’ve finished the Try! N3 Revised Edition textbook and don’t know if I should buy another N3 textbook to study until I take the exam in June or if I should do something else. The textbook claims that all the grammar needed for N3 is taught, but it only has 113 lessons whereas JLPT Sensei lists 180 grammar points needed for N3.

So I have 3 questions:

1. If you have used this textbook, is it enough for N3 or should I get another N3 textbook?

2. If it is enough, should I get an N2 textbook and start studying it now in preparation for December?

3. If it is not enough, which textbooks do you recommend?

Ps. For vocab I have an N3 anki deck and a vocab book which both claim to teach all the necessary vocab for N3.

Edit: 皆様、ご回答誠にありがとうございました。

  1. Maybe you can use Shinkanzen master or So-matome N3 grammar books to review the grammar until June, and in the meantime focus on practicing reading and memorizing kanji and vocabulary.

  2. December!? You have plenty of time! The thing that probably takes the most time and is probably the most important thing on the JLPT is vocabulary. Grammar is obviously important, and if you want to progress onto the N2 book, I think that’s fine. However, work on vocab, reading, and listening as you likely are fine for N3 grammar.

The Soumatome grammar books are great for review btw. Very quick and concise but lacking if it’s the only one you use.

  3. The text should cover most of the grammar you need for N3. If you study N2 grammar now, you may also encounter grammar that could appear on N3 because there’s a bit of overlap between late-N3 and early-N2 grammar.

  4. I studied with Try! N2 for the N2 exam and just by studying all the example sentences I was able to pass the exam without any problems.

  5. the Try! JLPT books have a list of mainly vocabulary from the book onto the website, and same with the audio files from the test! Now it might help to take practice grammar quizzes from 日本語の森 and JapaneseTest4You.com
