I am an expat working as an English teacher (Eikaiwa) I earn ¥275000 gross and left with ¥176,500 after deductions and rent. Would you say that this is a comfortable salary? I am having a hard time saving. I am not living frugally but also not spending too much. I am especially surprised on how much I spend on food and groceries. I have to allot 30-35,000 yen every month for it. Would you say that, as a single person living jn Tokyo, this net pay and food expenses are acceptable and normal? And how much do a regular employee earn and save every month?
