Autumn in Kyoto

To live in a place where days are shorter and nights are cool

Where leaves are orange or red while they slowly fall

To be at the end of summer and the start of winter, wearing cozy scarves or comfy shawls

I’m reminded of abundance, of mystery,
and the fleetingness of it all…

Seeing this season more of change and less of death

Of self-preservation as I take every breath

Slowly, steadily, gracefully I let go

Of the things in the past that’s been weighing me so…

And as I deeply marvel at the beauty of the Fall

I’ve come to understand why it’s my most favorite season of all🍁
