I had planned a snowboarding trip this year. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the earliest I can go is the 8th of April.
I understand this is spring and the end of the snow season.
My current itinerary is dependent on which location has the best chance of having some decent snowboarding and a general winter experience.
Currently I will chose between shiga kogen or niseko. If anyone has any other suggestions I’m all ears.
1 Tokyo:
1 night. Head to either niseko or shiga kogen the following day.
2 Niseko: 5 days
Snowboard, Sapporo, Noboribetsu etc
*or
2 Shiga Kogen: 5 days

*Next stop takeyama. Obviously this would be much easier from shiga kogen.

I have been to Japan before
Last time I did Tokyo> kyoto> osaka> Wakayama> Fukuoka> takachiho> Fukuoka > tokyo
I’m very happy to go with the flow and change any plans if I have to. It’s not the end of the world if I cancel my snowboarding aspirations all together.
I doubt the JR pass is worth this trip.
I would love to hike the northern alps but I understand I can’t this time of year. Any other mountains I can climb?
Any snow hikes/snowshoeing suggestions?
Any suggestions for this itinerary will be greatly appreciated
