It’s the first time in awhile my train was really delayed. The JR employee I asked about a certificate of lateness just shouted “homepage!” at me. So no more papers these days?
So I bought a bottle of sauce while traveling (domestic flight), it’s 600ml. I’ve tried looking for whether it can be carried on and I’ve found two things, one says the limit is 500ml per bottle, the other says it only applies to cosmetics. Anyone have any experience? Checking in the bag is possible, as is I suppose mailing it back.
Anybody did the online renewal of visa? would you still be going to the immigration to pick up your new card?
Any recommendations for online therapy in English?
Is music at shops licensed or can they just play anything?
Where can I resell my concert tickets? have to go to a different City and can’t make it in time for the Queens of Stone Age concert
How much Japanese is needed to work in the average research lab? Like I’m aware some are entirely English speaking and some are entirely Japanese speaking, but just how high of a level is needed? When I worked in labs in university there were some foreign workers of course who I assume have better English than my Japanese, but I’m wondering how screwed I am when it comes to finding jobs.
However I do plan to get a masters or PhD first so I have more time to study. At the moment I’m failing the N2 and my speaking is described as 一生懸命 hahaha. Obviously have a long way to go but wondering just how high the bar is for research type environments. Probably depends on how many presentations you need to make.
Anyone got any advice?
Hi. I’m looking to get into orienteering/land navigation stuff in the Kanto area, but I’m having trouble finding something that’s:
1. Casual, instead of a serious triathalon-looking time-trial competition
2. Requires a compass and navigational skills, instead of following prescribed trails like a glorified stamp rally
Does anyone know where/how to get into this sort of thing, or even classes (Japanese or English) where one can learn or practice land navigation skills?
Why are japanese girl dance movements (specially idol) so restricted? All hands movements are around face and shoulders. Is there any link to historic art forms?
Is there a brand of handwarmer that you recommend? I used to buy the pack with a rabbit design on it but they seemed kind of weak now.
I have to submit 住民票 (juminhyo) to my bank’s debit card (Rakuten Bank) as my old Zairyuu card was about to expire and I just got my new Zairyuu card.
For 住民票, it doesn’t mention if these below should be shown (表示) or not (省略).
・在留カード等の番号
・在留期間等の満了の日
・在留期間等
・第30条の45に規定する区分
Or it doesn’t matter at all whether those are shown?
I will send to them by JP post
Paperwork for moving within Japan (to a different prefecture)?
I’m on a spouse visa. Moving day is in 2 weeks. Google shows I need to submit a moving out notice at the city hall, or ward office? Can husband submit this for the household, or do I also have to submit one as an individual? And then it seems we submit this paperwork to the equivalent office in our new place.
But what about immigration, do I have to notify them in a separate process/visit? Right now my zairyu card has my current address printed on the front. I’m pretty sure neither city nor ward office can reprint my zairyu card with my new address for me…or can they?
I’d be so appreciative of someome who moved within Japan recently could walk me through what they did, or point me to an informative website with a clear list of steps. Google is just giving me endless affiliate blogs repeating the same info about the move-out+move-in notice and not much else. It’s making me feel so dumb that I can’t find answers to these questions!
