Is it cheaper to buy New 3DS LL/XL on Yahoo Japan Auction or in physical stores (Book Off etc.)?

I’m wondering where I can get a better price. Purchasing online on Yahoo Japan Auction/Rakuten, or physical stores like Book Off, Hard Off, Super Potato, etc.?

I’m also looking to get a PS Vita…

  1. I’ve had better luck at recycle shops like Hard-Off for my Sega Saturn. Much cheaper than retro shops. I’ve seen better prices on auction/reseller sites, but it seems harder to get a guarantee.

  2. Cheapest ones, sometimes with worse condition, in book off / hard off. Mercari for larger selection. Amazon if you want a brand new one or faster delivery. Retro / video game stores (like super potato) will have much higher prices, so only useful for rarer / older stuff.

  3. Are you located in Osaka? I have a US PS Vita I havent touched in almost five years and be willing to sell. I also have a us 3DS XL that I’ll probably never play again

  4. I would go for Mercari for the best price unless you really want to hit a lot of different shops price comparing

  5. Go to Softmap in Akihabara, they have tons, bought a good New 3DS LL for 12000.
Then you can just hack it and get any game you want from any region.
    Same for the PS vita.

  6. I just bought a vita off Rakuma yesterday for ¥4500. May need a new screen, will see when it comes. Aliexpress has a lot of parts. Hard to find a working Psvita 2000 for under ¥9,000. Boxed is about ¥15,000. (Yahoo auction).

I recently cleaned up a stinky psp3000 which was ¥3200.

Games are dirt dirt cheap for psp. I bought a lot of 11 games for ¥1100 DELIVERED and some others locally for ¥860 for 3 (mgs peace walker, god of war and final fantasy zero (2 disks).

Nintendo will cost a bit more. I think a basic 3ds is about ¥5000 starting and ¥10000 for the “new 3ds”.

  7. I’ve bought a few of them recently, go on Mercari.
If you are looking at the one’s in Book Off in Tokyo, they are often overpriced.
