What are your thoughts on living in Hiroshima?

I’ll be moving there next month to teach and would love your opinion on the city.

  2. Never lived there but I have traveled to the city twice. Love it. The people are great and the food is good.

I mean don’t you think its a little late to be asking? If we all told you its terrible, are you going to not bother showing up?

  4. Living just outside the city limits.

It’s a nice city, really. Not too big with a very modern feel (for obvious reasons) and easy access to the shinkansen going towards Kyushu or Kansai. Shikoku is also not far and you can take a ferry from the city or bus / drive into Ehime.

I like it here but my one big gripe as a driver is how god awful the traffic is. Especially in the outer city limits and in Higashi Hiroshima and Hatsukaichi. There’s so much residential development and it’s causing congestion everywhere. On the bright side they just recently built a new expressway from Higashi Hiroshima that made an hour drive into a half hour one.

When I was an English teacher in the city schools I did really dislike the BoE. Very glad to have escaped teaching but the schools themselves were great.

You will either fall in love with or be very disappointed by the okonomiyaki.
