MMoving to Japan

Want both US number and Japanese number on one phone

Hi! I’m moving to Japan in March this year, and ideally I would like to keep on my family’s T-Mobile plan and keep my US number, and then get Japanese eSIM through Mobal. To have one phone, 2 numbers.

Is this realistic and possible? I have iPhone 14. If I call a US number, will it be functional through my T-Mobile plan, or would it take international rates from Mobal plan?
