I have always loved sushi, but I live in rural Iowa where my grocery stores have a woefully small Asian cuisine section and it is mostly comprised of cheap ramen. But lately, my local grocery stores have been adding more to their Asian cuisine sections (and Spainish too, thank goodness) and I found everything I needed for making my own sushi!
I was so excited, I’ve been researching different sushi combinations, the history of sushi, how to prep the fish if you want it, etc. I tried it tonight for the first time, and…. yeah, I guess I didn’t realize there is probably a method to cutting the roll so the ingredients don’t get messed up and fall out.
So then I just decided, the ingredients are the same, inside or outside of sushi form. I tossed them in a bowl, made a sauce with mayo, sambal oelek, a little soy sauce, sesame seeds, and green onion. Its just as delicious, but I have more to learn for next time
