  1. For those thinking of retiring here. What’s your plan? Doubt in 20-30 years we can just straight out stop work. But then as a non-native what options for retried part time work is there?

  2. I will need to buy a car. I will be doing some farming so something with some room to haul seems better, but maybe it makes more sense to get something smaller and rent a truck/van when I need one? I have an AT license. Driving will mostly be to Costco, errands to the nearest own when weather won’t allow us to bike (or we need to buy bigger things), farm stuff (to-from market, farm supplies that aren’t delivered, etc.) and the occasional visit a couple hours away to the in-laws.

I’ve been looking at used cars >= 2019 model year. I’m debating over getting a hijet cargo (for 640k with some options included) or something smaller and renting a truck when I need one.

I plan on paying cash at purchase time and will probably buy through goo-net. Has anyone negotiated them down in such a case?

Is a kei car/van going to be cheaper on insurance (what I get outside of jibaiseki)?

Is it better based on my usecase to get a kei car and rent something bigger when I need it (probably really only a handful of times a year for the first year at least)?

Should I consider older cars (I think after 10 years from model age shaken gets more difficult or expensive or something)?

    Thank you!

  3. Will the post office accept a hole-punched zairyu card as proof of address? If not, is there anything else I can use (like an electricity invoice etc)?

  4. calling anyone with experience flying domestically in Japan!

taking my first domestic flight (ever, not just in Japan) on Monday out of Narita. Narita’s site says there are no restrictions on liquids for domestic flights, but I’m presuming I’ll still have to go through all the usual protocols at security? How does this work? If you’ve ever done this, please let me know!

I know this is a stupid question hence me posting it in the stupid questions thread, but I’ve never flown domestically so I have no idea if it all works differently. Thanks!

  5. Anyone attended live @ Zepp Haneda recently ? Do they have lockers?
It’s winter and If you can’t find any lockers, I know its gonna be hot wearing jacket inside during the event (rock band). It’s gonna be my first concert in Japan . Thank you for any info 🙂
