I’m considering learning Japanese since I’m already relatively proficient in Chinese (HSK4) and I’m quite excited to do the “laddering” method.
I am aware that the two languages have significant grammatical differences, but I have noticed some similarities between Hanzi and Kanji. So far, the main differences I have seen are discrepancies in radicals and some words having different meanings in each language. For instance, in Chinese “走” means ‘walk’ while in Japanese it means ‘run’.
To clarify, I can read simplified Hanzi. For any of those who know Japanese and Chinese, have you found the transition to be difficult?
