Those living in noisy areas in Japan- how do you deal with it?

Moving into a new place with my bf in Fujisawa. The flat itself is lovely, although a tad old (35 years). Everything else ticked our boxes. However, after we signed the contract and went back to visit the place, we realised it is sooo unbelievably noisy.
It is one street along from a very busy road running through Fujisawa, and so constantly mopeds are using the street in front of our flat as a way to avoid the busier road. It feels almost like they are in the room with us! Not to mention the pollution we may be breathing in.

I have problems with sleeping, and pretty much any noise disturbs me. My bf on the other hand can sleep through anything, so thinks I am being a bit dramatic.

We haven’t moved in yet and just been dropping things off, but I am getting very nervous about moving there. I heard there are sound proof curtains, but wondering how effective they actually could be.

Any advice? Thanks
