For the past few years, I’ve been using Memrise, and I’ve personally had great success with it. However, it appears they’ve killed all mobile support for it (at least currently). Technically the website appears to still be working… but I’m looking for other mobile options.
Obviously there’s anki, which Reddit seems to say “is the BEST one”, but I have to disagree. And I think I know why- with memrise, after you did ten words or so, you got to take a break and then decide whether to continue or not. Anki is either “All reviews AT ONCE” (you’re lying if you’ve never groaned at having to do 100+ words in one go), or “Nope, no new words for you today. You’ve done the limit for today”. Certainly there’s a lot of advantages to this… but VERY easy to get burned out.
So, are there any other apps, specifically for vocabulary? I’m working on N2 stuff and need an SRS system, but I’m often away from my computer so mobile is my best bet for continuing to study.
