Japan Post (Yuucho Ginko) Limitations Upon Arrival as Student?

Hi everyone, I will be arriving as a student in Japan late 2024.

I’ve done a great deal of research and I do know Japan Post Bank (aka Yuucho Ginko) will be my first bank, and there are many limitations with it.

The limitations mostly stem from the 6-month “non-resident” law which I am aware of. After that time, I will be able to upgrade to the “resident” version which gives a fuller banking experience.

I also do know that upon arrival in Japan, ***it is very different when a student opens his first bank account compared to an employee***.

⭐️ I thus just want to inquire from the standpoint of a student (without part-time employment) opening his first Yuucho account.

These are the things I am already clear of:

* No debit card (only cash card)
* Wiring money in from overseas is best done through Wise

Immediately after account opening, will I be able to do these important things?

* Direct debits for things such as rent/utilities?
* Access to Yuucho Direct (aka their Online Banking)?
* Even with access, can I make domestic transfers to other bank accounts?
