Wife and I are ending a visit to Japan in July with some beach / snorkeling time in the Okinawa Prefecture. Worried about the crowds. But given the short timeframe, also don’t think it makes sense to travel to some super remote islands. I think I can get a direct flight to Ishigaki from where we are leaving. Ideally I’m looking for a hotel that has beach snorkeling – or a hotel from which we can bike to beaches for snorkeling. That said, will probably take at least one boat snorkeling excursion too. Thoughts on Miyako vs Ishigaki? Anyone have hotel recommendations. I don’t mind spending some money but prefer to avoid the big western style resorts. So far, we are struggling to find anything.
