Hey everyone I’d appreciate if someone could help me out with the following:
I have a discord bot that I’m exclusively providing for a server I’m part of. Some members asked me if they can compensate me somehow for my efforts so I was thinking to add something like a “paypal donation button” or something along those lines to optionally accept donations from members of the server that feel like my efforts are worth it. Kind of like the donation buttons you sometimes see on open source software projects if you are familiar with those.
However, I have no idea how that works with taxes in Japan. Do I just declare anything I earned through that donation feature in my tax return at the beginning of the year? Do I need to open a business for this or some special license for freelancing, etc.?
If you have any idea about this, would love to get some input so I can get this feature started and start receiving donations without having a headache about taxes 🙂
