Hi there,
I am planning a trip to japan in May of next year (planning for after golden week) and likely will be able to go for about 12 days (maybe 13 depending on PTO/flights etc)
I was thinking of just staying in shibuya for 6 days, then kyoto for 4, then back to tokyo somewhere else (maybe akihabara since my husband is mostly into gaming/anime/etc but asakusa seems most convenient/stuff to do)
Originally I wanted to do 2-3 days in kyoto and 2-3 days in osaka, but having to drag luggage around on public transport sounds obnoxious and it seems it usually takes a couple days to ship luggage. I also just like not having to pack and unpack a bunch of times if we were switching hotels every few days… Is just having a home base in kyoto for 4 days and then taking day trips to osaka/nara etc doable/recommended? I don’t think we’re going to do universal japan as it just looks really crowded and i’m more interested on tokyo disneysea but if it’s worth it i’d probably want to have a hotel in osaka for those days instead of kyoto to get to quickly after a long day at a theme park.
Let me know if anyone has had a similar itinerary and if only staying in kyoto or osaka worked out!
