Background: I’m 25 with 3+ years experience in Marketing. I am highly considering to pivot my career into IT/Engineering/Hacking/ for the following reasons:
\- Been out of work for 3-4 months now. I’ve recently learned that companies are cutting off their marketing hires with the rise of AI and the post-pandemic economy.
\- I’m still very young, and I doubt that a drastic career change would hurt. I’ve always been into tech hardware. Unrelated note, but I can diagnose and repair my custom PC whenever it has issues & I genuinely love learning if anything has to do with tech.
\- Living in another Asian country as a foreigner. Competition for Marketing roles is insane with the demand for a local touch, mindset and communication style.
Moving to Japan is a personal life-long goal. I’ve been self-studying for a few months now.
What are some of the common demands for foreign tech roles Japan? I’m not pivoting my career entirely based on Japanese demands, but it’s food for thought to see if I could align these goals.
