Hi! Im currently a junior in high school and I’m at that point where I need to start thinking about where I’m gonna apply this upcoming fall. For the past 6 years I’ve thought really hardly about moving to Japan and before you all run to the replies with “you DONT want to live here” and blah blah whatever trust me I have heard it over and over again I have thought about it for a long time and I’m still okay with going through with moving there even if it’s temporary.
Now back to my main point, I’ve heard from many people that an American degree is worth more than a Japanese one. Does that apply to any colleges in America though? I live in the Midwest and my nearby colleges aren’t very great, they’re not terrible, the majority of them are religious and honestly I really want to get away from home as far as possible either way. Would a degree at say the university of Minnesota or North Dakota be worth more than say the university of Tokyo? I’m looking to major in foreign languages because learning new languages and cultures has just always been important to me and ideally in the long run I’d want to live in Japan for as long as possible so what do you guys think would be better in the long run?
And once again, please just answer the question instead of “why would you ever want to live here!!!” I do not care for those replies and they’re all too common on here. Lol much love and thank you.
Edit: forgot to mention! I’ve been taking Japanese in high school for 3 years (planning on my 4th year senior year) and I also intend to continue taking Japanese in college as I’m nowhere near complete fluency yet 🙂
