Getting Out of the Habit of Chasing the Sporadic High of Comprehension While Sometimes Avoiding Immersion for the Exact Opposite Reason

Hello all, I wanted to get your advice on this topic.

The high you get when you comprehend during immersion is second to none. It’s the fuel that gives me massive bursts of inspiration and it will cause me to work so hard for days, even weeks, after those moments. But on the opposite side, I’ve noticed that when I don’t comprehend things when I feel like I should, it causes the exact opposite reaction. It’s deflating and disheartening, to the point where I don’t want to study as much. I’ve found myself occasionally intentionally avoiding immersion practice for this exact reason, I don’t want to get possibly deflated, which will negatively affect my studies. However, this is a double-edged sword, because as we all know, consistent immersion is very important.

Do you all find yourselves ever doing this as well? What do you do to help mitigate it? How do you get past the fear of incomprehension and push forward?

Thanks for your time.
