Greetings everyone! I am not really sure about where to find an appropriate sub to ask this, because I am strictly *looking for* a specific good rural town to live at, however, I am not going to go to Japan that soon, because I still have jobs and studies to finish over this decade, so for me, moving to Japan is long-term slow plan that will still take years to materialize.
I am looking for a place in Japan that is a:
1. Rural place (I am an amateur cartographer, and I *love* surfing around Google Maps and looking up lesser-known places in the mountains/countryside)
2. Isolated (by that I mean a quiet place full of nature and few people, this is not a requirement but appreciated)
3. Cheap rent, medium-sized house, no apartments please, and in preference, an isolated-ish separate house with no close neighbors
4. By looking up “日本の家賃の安い田舎町”, I see that apparently, **the prefecture with the cheapest rent and living costs is Tottori?** is this true?, if so, what are the specific rural towns in Tottori that reflect this?, and if not, which are the true prefectures with cheapest rent and living costs?
6. I am accepting pretty much any cozy and cheap rural place in Japan that is a part of the four home islands (not Okinawa), and is not itself not located in an isolated island only accessible through boats or ferries or planes.
7. A place with a “tolerable” climate, I am Italian-Brazilian and Brazil is too unbearably hot for me, but at the same time, I can not tolerate a place that is way too much cold or with too much snow either.
8. A place with little to no humidity (a Japanese person told me that this does not exist, so disregard this last question in case such a place really does not exist)
Bear in mind, I am talking about years from now, possibly 5-ish or so, my stay in Japan is still far from happening.
I recently stumbled upon videos of these “Akiya” abandoned houses for sale, I might have to do more research on them, but ultimately, I am afraid of buying a good-looking house that is way, way too cheap, which turns out to be a completely dilapidated place that is falling apart, that will result in you spending absurd amounts of money to repair it, ending up being more expensive than actually buying a good house itself.
I really appreciate any comments or help about this subject, because I do not know of another good place where I can ask this.
