I’ve looked at the website but I’m still confused.
I also have been to Kyoto so from experience I know I sometimes mix things up because of different train lines, subway lines, types of trains, …
As I understand it, to ride the sightseeing train (Aoniyoshi) you can book a twin seat via the website.
I want to ride it with my friend from Kyoto Station to Kintetsu Nara Station.
The website says it’s 1470 yen. I assume I have to double that amount since there are two of us. I do know that you have to pay for 2 seats on this train since it’s designed to take in the views together with someone.
OK. So I book my seats online which I assume gives me an online ticket proving I have now reserved certain seats on the train. I will print that out just in case I need to show that to staff.
Now this train rides on the Kintetsu line. And the train is a limited express type of train correct?
Now this is the hard part for me. Do I need to buy a basic fare ticket on the machines nearby AND also a limited express ticket?
When buying these tickets what do I do? Do I select a distance? From Kyoto Station to Kintetsu Nara and buy 2 seperate tickets? 1 basic fare and 1 limited express? Since there are two of us I buy 2 each of course.
Also at the ticket gate should I insert both tickets at the same time?
In the end I need the basic fare, the limited express and my online reservation?
Please tell me if I made a mistake or if I can look at things a bit more in a logical way.
I love just using SUICA on normal JR trains, but I have made mistakes in the past trying to understand the basic fare plus some other kind of fare.. for example on the shinkansen.
