Bicycle stolen from home

Recently moved to Tachikawa – we’re on the outskirts along the Seibu-Shinjuku line. We are still in transition, so not here on weekdays. Our home is along the railway – on a side street with a dead end, but it is the first house and corners the commuters street. Anyway, my wife’s electric “mama-chari “ had the key left in (battery removed for charging) and coming back on Saturday we found the bicycle missing. No security, naked car port…but who the f*** steals a bicycle with a kids seat on the back!!!!?

Sent a police report today, but when we bought it we stupidly decided to do the police registration (bouhan-touroku) later after buying the bicycle and never got around to it. F*** 🙁

Edit: Went through years of paperwork and found out we did register the anti-theft number. The address was written a little different which is why they couldn’t check from the address we gave.

Tomorrow I’ll call the Tachikawa police and give them the number – see what happens. A little nugget – apparently you can call the store you bought from and they keep records on file (usually paper records) and can help look up your purchase and confirm the number too.

PS) When I was a student in Japan I had my bicycle lifted off campus twice. Once found it at a nearby station. But what gets me here is this is a bicycle with a kids seat stolen right from a home. And without the battery (charging in the house) it’s hella-hard to peddle…wtf?
