Revised itinerary – 19 days in Japan (Tokyo, Hakone, Osaka, Kyoto) – what do you think?

Hi guys!

I am planning to travel together with my girlfriend to Japan for 19 days.

\- Period: End of February up to Mid of March

\- Duration: 19 days

\- Cities we would like to visit: Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hakone, Yokohama

\- Preferences: Food, Cafés, Anime, Shopping, Sightseeing

\- Hotels:

Tokyo both parts: Located near Shinjuku Station

Osaka: Located near Osaka Station

Hakone: Located near Hakone Yumoto Station

\- Luggage will be forwarded when heading over from Tokyo to Osaka & Osaka to Tokyo in order to just have 1-2 backpacks for Hakone and to have more freedom when travelling with Shinkansen etc.

**Do y’all think the following revised itinerary would work out?**

I had to split some activites as I had the impression that my previous itinerary was too much and could be too hectic instead of enjoyable.

**Part 1 – Tokyo:**

**Day 1: Arrival – Exploring Shinjuku & Shibuya**

\- Arrival in Tokyo at around 9AM (Leaving the airport at around 10AM)

\- Hotel is in Shinjuku and Check-In is at 3PM

\- Going to Shinjuku straight from the airport, leave luggage at hotel and explore Shinjuku

\- Check-In at hotel, change outfits and go to Shibuya

**Day 2: Harajuku & Omotesando**

\- Starting the day with Meiji Shrine at 10AM

\- Shopping & exploring Takeshita Street

\- Vintage Shopping in Harajuku

\- Exploring Omote-Sando

\- Appointment at Ringram at 4:30PM in Omote-Sando (finished around 7:30 PM)

\- Heading to Shibuya for the evening and then go back to the hotel

**Day 3: Teamlab Borderless and Shibuya Sky**

\- Start the day with Teamlab Borderless in Azabudai Hills (we already got tickets for the first slot at 10AM) and stay there approx. 3-4 hours

\- Walk towards Tokyo Tower

\- Take the subway back to Shibuya and explore Shibuya Scramble

\- Go to Shibuya Sky on sunset (already have tickets around sunset time)

\- Go to a place in Shibuya for Yakiniku and head back to Shinjuku

**Day 4: Ghibli Museum + acitivites around the museum**

\- Start the day with Ghibli Museum (already got the tickets for the 10AM slot)

\- Walk around Inokashira Park after the museum

\- Head to Nakano and explore the Nakano broadway + eat/drink something at Bar Zingaro

Depending on the mood & energy:
Plan A: Go to Shinjuku and explore Shinjuku for the rest of the day (e.g. head to Ikebukuro)

Plan B: After Nakano head to Akihabara and explore Akihabara around 7-8PM. After Akihabara explore Asakusa at night in order to avoid the huge crowds in the afternoon

**Day 5: Disney Sea**

\- Disney Sea and that´s it

**Day 6: Kirby Café + Trip to Yokohama?**

\- Start the day with a visit to the Kirby Cafe (already got a spot at 10 AM)

\- Explore the stores at Tokyo Skytree

Depending on time, mood & energy:

Plan A: Head to Yokohama (takes approx. 1h 20 minutes) and explore Minato Mirai, e.g.:

Sky Garden at sunset, taking the ferris wheel, walking around Minato Mirai

Plan B, if we didn´t go already to Asakusa and Akihabara von Day 4: Go after Kirby Café to Asakusa and afterwards spend the remaining day at Akihabara

**Part 2 – Hakone:**

**Day 7: Trip to Hakone & Hakone Loop**

\- Take the earliest Romance Car and head over to Hakone (ticket has been already bought)

\- Do the hakone loop

\- Check-In at Ryokan around 3-4 PM and enjoy the private bath + Kaiseki dinner

**Day 8: Remaining time at Hakone + Trip to Osaka:**

\- Breakfast & chilling at the ryokan until 10 AM

\- Explore the Open Air Museum

\- Take the Shinkansen at Odawara station and head over to Osaka

\- Depending on time: Check-In at hotel & Explore Dotonbori, go to Umeda Sky Buildung

**Part 3 – Osaka & Kyoto (Base is located in Osaka):**

**Day 9: Explore Kyoto pt. 1**

\- Start with the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest really early in the morning

\- Head over to the Arashiyama Monkey Park

\- Go to Tenryu-ji

\- Head over to Kinkaku-ji

\- Explore Osaka in the evening

**Day 10: Explore Kyoto pt. 2**

\- Start with Fushimi Inari really early in the morning and go to the top

\- Tofuku-ji

\- Gingaku-ji to Nanzen incl. Philosophers Path

\- Explore Osaka in the evening

**Day 11: USJ & Mario Land**

\- Just USJ & Mario Land and a “short” break from Kyoto

\- Explore Osaka in the evening

**Day 12: Day trip to Nara**

\- Explore the Deer Park, Todaiji, Kasua Taisha, Kofukuji, Mochi Pounding etc.

\- Explore Osaka in the evening

**Day 13: Explore Osaka and head back to Tokyo**

\- Start the day early with Check-Out and Osaka imperial Palace

\- Head over to the Osaka aquarium

\- Take the Shinkansen back to Tokyo and Check-In at hotel + depending on time: either sleep or explore Shinjuku

**Part 4 – Back in Tokyo:**

Day 14-18: Spontaneous activites & things which we could not do in the first tokyo section

\- Day trip to Enoshima & Kamakura (will be done 99%)

\- Odaiba, Sanrio Land, Rikugien Garden, Tokyo Station, Pokemon Cafe, Shimokitazawa + Shirohige Café, Sunshine City, Ueno, Ginza etc. -> Whatever we would like to do the final full five days

Day 19: Leave Japan:

\- Check-out at the hotel & do final shopping (up to 5-6 PM)
\- Head over to the airport and say goodbye to Japan 🙁
