Prospective International Mechanical Engineering Masters Student

My boyfriend grew up in Tokyo, and we have agreed to move back there in the next year or 2. (From USA) I don’t know much Japanese, but he does.

Looking for feedback on my prospective plans:

I have my BS in mechanical engineering and about 1 year of experience in the industry. I don’t think it would be feasible for me to find a job immediately after moving there, knowing very little Japanese. The most realistic option I have come up with is to apply for English taught masters programs, and spend those 2 years in school working on my Japanese skills whilst obtaining a MS in MechE degree.

Has anyone in here done this? Trying to find out if the universities will offer support finding work following graduation, and how employers will see a masters degree taught in English, located in Tokyo.

I am aware it will be challenging to even be accepted, but the plan would be to apply to every program in Tokyo that I am eligible for.

All feedback welcome and appreciated!
