Question about quality of sharehouses

So I’m currently in a sharehouse situation that works fine for me as far as quality of life goes, a tiny room with shared facilities. It’s about an hour away from the city center. The shared facilities aren’t clean, but aren’t offensively dirty. I’m considering moving because my main reason for coming here now was to practice the language, and my current sharehouse doesn’t have residents who speak Japanese fluently. That being said, the other guests here are pleasant to stay with and I’ve made friends with some of them.

I keep hearing that people talk about how bad sharehouses are due to lack of space and hygiene. Is it the case that I’m kind of lucky with my situation, and that other sharehouses have a risk of being way worse in terms of things like poor hygiene of shared facilities? Or would most other sharehouses be similar to my current one as it is?
