Hello friends!
Has anyone had any experience with the Japanese short story reading resources where there is the Japanese short story on one page and either the English translation or Japanese vocabulary explanation on the other page?
Some specific examples of what I’m referring to are:
Japanese Stories for Language Learners – Bilingual Stories in English and Japanese
By Anne McNulty and Eriko Sato
Read Real Japanese: Contemporary Writings by Popular Authors
Edited by Janet Ashby
Read Real Japanese: Short Stories by Contemporary Writers
Edited by Michael Emmerich
I came across these types of books at a bookstore but I wasn’t sure if they were a good resource for reading practice or not. I saw a review for these specific books on Tofugu but I wanted to check and see if anyone else had any comments/advice on them. I’d also prefer a physical resource since I like to annotate them.
Thanks!

If you want something free there’s a channel that had made 112 stories in Japanese with voice acting, It’s called しのせんせい
Other than that I’d suggest “Japanese Reader Collection”
These are the ones I’ve tried, They are good stories but they have some niche vocabulary sometimes, So I think the best way to use them is as a confidence booster
