Hi everyone – I’ve been reading as much as I can on this forum as I plan our mid June trip.
I’m a bit unsure of where we should go stay in a ryokan with an Onsen
Basically I’d love to stay in a town where we can walk around an area from our hotel to some shops etc but also have a private Onsen experience in our room.
I’ve been looking at Hakone of course – and maybe I’m misunderstanding but this place doesn’t look like a little town setting where you can wander – more like many beautiful ryokans but nothing else around you without getting a bus or whatever. So is there such a place in this area?
Also it doesn’t have to be in Hakone – we are traveling from Tokyo to Kyoto – and this little 2 night stay could be anywhere with easy access to one of these areas. I’m wondering if there’s a smaller town I may not have found yet.
Finally – we are there in June – so of course it will be hot – do you all still recommend the hot spring experience at that time of year?? Is it likely to be too warm to truly enjoy and outdoor onsen?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. PS budget is approx 700 Euro per night max! Of course the lower priced for the best experience the better 🙂
