Is it a good idea to go to college in Japan if I want to become an English teacher there?

Basically as the title says, recently I have been considering the idea of being an English teacher in Japan and as a way of sort of testing the waters I would go to college in Japan to get used to the culture and such, and as a sort of trial period to see if I would mesh well with living in Japan. I’m not too bothered with the idea of getting a degree in Japan and deciding I don’t want to live there and moving back to the US where said degree would be pretty much useless. I’m just curious if it would be a good idea in general to go to college in Japan and if that would give me a possible edge against others if I were to go on to apply to an English teaching position.
