Unable to register a Smart EX account

I’m having trouble registering a Smart EX account to book Shinkansen tickets from Tokyo to Kyoto.

I attempted to register using an Australian bank MasterCard and a Wise Visa card. However, I encountered the following error: “Since we were unable to confirm that your credit card is valid, we have canceled the process. Please start over from the beginning.”

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, as I am a first-time traveler to Japan.
