So many locals with 0-1 COVID infections

As a western foreigner who just moved to Japan 1.5 years ago, I’ve had COVID-19 3 times. Once in the previous Asian country I resided, and twice in Japan! However the majority of my local coworkers (a group of 20+) have never caught it, or caught it just once. This is so different from the rest of the world.

Has anyone else noticed that so many local Japanese people have never caught COVID-19?

I’m sure they’re all looking at me as dirty gaijin with bad hygiene. I do travel a ton and frequent tourist hot spots/hotels all the time. I think many local Japanese are good at isolating themselves with masks and avoiding crowded areas, and especially avoiding tourist areas. Not to mention the impeccable hygiene. Would you agree? I just don’t think I’ll ever have hygiene as good.
