I’m planning about getting a IBSJ account to invest in ETFs. Most guides online recommend getting a tokutei account （特定口座） but unfortunately IBSJ currently only offers ippan account （一般口座）.
**Context:**
– I’m American so I understand that I need to avoid PFICs
– I plan on staying in Japan for life
– This is all new to me so apologies if this is a dumb question.
**I have two questions:**
1) How hard is it to calculate your own taxes with an Interactive Brokers Japan ippan account?
2) What’s the process for calculating your own taxes?
