I’m going to Japan in November for 3 weeks and I’m trying to squeeze in 2 nights in Takayama between Lake Kawaguchi and Kyoto. The quickest journey I can find is 6h via Matsumoto using public transport, however, I’d have to depart at 8:40am. Any other departure time would increase the journey time to 8 hours which sounds crazy.
Are there any faster routes that exist or am I simply going to have to hire a car and drive myself?
Current Itinerary:
Tokyo 5 days including arrival> Lake Kawaguchi 2 days > Kyoto 5 days > Shimanami Kaido 2 days > Hiroshima and Miyajima 2 days > Osaka 4 days including departure.
